Tees inspired by 80s pop music

By Cynthia on  From feedproxy.google.com
I'm not sure why but I’ve been listening to 80s music more than usual these past few days. Mind you, I grew up listening to these songs (on cassette tapes!) so they mean much more to me than just cheesy lyrics (i.e. Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down,… you know how it goes) or heavy synthesizers. I associate these with a lot of fond memories. For instance, singing the Boomtown Rats’ “I don’t like Mondays” in my head made the trek to school at the start of every week bearable...Read Full Story

Where The Down Boys Go: RIP Jani Lane

By Gail Worley on  From worleygig.com
“Heaven isn’t Too Far Away” Jani Lane (born John Kennedy Oswald), former lead singer of the rock band Warrant, was found dead at a hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday evening according to TMZ. He was 47 years old. Lane’s body was discovered at the Comfort Inn hotel in Woodland Hills, CA. So far, no official cause of death has been released. I met Jani Lane a few times, as my friend Mike Fasano was Warrant’s drummer for a number of years, and he never seemed like a very happy guy. It’s sad that...Read Full Story

Indie Rock Covers of 80s Songs

By Cynthia on  From squidoo.com
Song remakes are everywhere these days and musicians of all kinds -- indie rock artists included -- are naturally jumping on the cover version bandwagon. After all, hasn't American Idol proven that rehashed, re-imagined, and rearranged versions of an original song will sell like pancakes? It's quite true that there's nothing as reassuring as seeing a familiar song title in a sea of unknown tracks, and covers are indeed a great way of showcasing a musician's ingenuity in making an old tune...Read Full Story

T-Shirt of the Week: Terry, Patron Saint of 80s Metal

By Gail Worley on  From worleygig.com
Starting Monday, November 15, Formula Werks’ featured T-Shirt of the Week is the Ken Keirns’ designed Terry: Patron Saint of 80′s Metal – which will be available to purchase for one week only. I have to confess that a shirt called “Terry, Patron Saint of 80s Metal” is particularly hilarious to me, as I know a guy named Terry who is quite passionate, if highly elitist, about his own musical taste, and he certainly never misses a chance to take a dump on my great love of 80s Metal, even if he...Read Full Story
