Hard Start Problem Corrected

Pros:
Reprogramming has taken care of problem
Cons:
Problem with this model should have been addressed before resale
I just bought a used 2006 Suzuki Reno to discover that this model was plagued with the Cold Crank Problem. I took the car back to the dealer where it was put in for service.

The car was reprogramed to latest update, FB95P0 99 KM .4 TSB=TS 09 10056 and have since had no problems.

The Mechanics also have suggested that during the summer months, when gasoline is diluted with alcohol to use a better quality of gas. They suggest I switch to Chevron with Techron, if only for the summer months to keep the engine running more smoothly.

To date, the car starts right up and has been running without further complications.

Took the car in Saturday afternoon, had it back home Monday evening.

My 2006 Suzuki service experience with Sam Swope Suzuki

Pros:
Color, gas milage, hatchback
Cons:
100,000 mile warranty
I am very unhappy about my purchase. When I first saw my Reno, April 2008, I fell in love with it. It was perfect–I was 8 months pregnant–it had 4 doors with the hatch back. The color was awesome (orange). I was so excited. The only two things I did not like was it was an automatic and had a sunroof. I would have rather have had a manual.

Anyway, I noticed the check engine light came on in the beginning of April of this year. My husband and I took the car to our local car shop to have the diagnostics done. The codes were P0700 and P0705, which were electrical. We thought the 100,000 warranty would cover this. He went ahead and topped off the fluids–we were planning a trip to Alabama on May 4th–and have the oil changed. I was very proud of my Reno, this is the only “new” car I have ever bought. I make sure to change the oil and keep it washed and looking beautiful. Even when friends would say things about the brand Suzuki, I would say that my car was awesome & the best car I’ve owned.

Then the bottom fell out. Just last week the engine light came on again. We took the car to Sam Swope Suzuki in Louisville Kentucky, again we had to have the diagnostics test ran. The codes listed before were cleared but everything else seemed to pop up. Every time Matt Cook called me, there was something else wrong that was NOT covered by my warranty. They had the car from Wednesday to Friday. The total bill was $930.90. When I picked up the car on Friday, Matt M. the service manager assured me the car was great & “like new & completely capable to make the nine hour drive to Alabama.”

Now, I am not trying to get sympathy, but I have just had surgery & was off work for 3months with a feeding tube, then after it was removed I missed more work, unpaid. My husband has been working overtime just to keep our heads above water, pay the house payment and normal bills. We also have an eleven and a half year old. So the near $1000 really hit our savings hard. We don’t have family to borrow from and we didn’t want to use our credit cards.

It is what it is, so we dealt with it. Then on Saturday (yesterday) the check engine light came on again. Now we are scheduled to leave for Alabama Monday at 3pm, and now I have to call Sam Swope Suzuki in the morning on the way to work and figure out what is wrong. I know this is the transmission because when we put the car in reverse, it jumps.

I am so sick to my stomach about this, with my past history, is not good. We paid 11k for this car, thinking we got a great car. I am extremely disappointed. I wish I would have bought another Honda, I’ve had two with over 300k miles on them and they were used. One was an 86 and the other was an 91. I never had trouble like this. If we were financially able to trade this car in, we would. It is a shame, I loved my car, now I just don’t know what to do. I will be mailing this and/or fax this with copies of the invoice. I guess we will see if you stand behind your cars or not.

Thank you for your time,

Courtney Wright
