Election Countdown: 25 Days to Election

With 25 days left until election 2008, President Bush told Americans not to be swayed by "uncertainty and fear" in a White House Rose Garden Speech.

Bush didn't offer many specifics about current efforts to help damaged markets, but assured Americans: "We know what the problems are. We have the tools to fix them. And we're working swiftly to do so."

John McCain jumped on the situation, touting his $300 billion proposal to buy up troubled mortgages, but it turns out his Republican base is kinda freaked out by the prospect of such a wide-sweeping and costly plan. (More from CNN)




On Wall Street, the Dow plunged another 700 points this morning, but clawed it's way back to only minor losses on the day, leading some in the financial markets to be (*cough cough*) optimistic about next week.




Meanwhile, Henry Paulson and Ben Bernanke did what they could for the markets by meeting with the G7 about the global impacts of the economic downturn.

Oh and what's going on with Obama? Well as you can see, he's still pounding the campaign trail in Ohio, trying to get over that hump and win the battleground state.
