Giuliani back in spotlight _ but what's the show?

From:  ap.org
Whether he's planning another run for the White House or a bid for senator or governor, or he just misses the spotlight, Rudy Giuliani is suddenly back and talking about the topic that made him a national star — Sept. 11. Over five days this week, the former New York mayor gave several national TV interviews and a news conference — the kind of blitz usually associated with a book tour or a campaign launch. And he definitely does not have a new book to sell. He has demurred when asked about... Read Full Story

Bill Clinton Blames Keith Olbermann for Having to Skip Charity Event

A major charitable event is happening in Little Rock, Arkansas, Saturday, and former Bill Clinton apparently will not be in attendance because MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has politicized it on his "Countdown" program. As Arkansas News reported hours ago, "Nine hundred people or more will get free medical attention from noon to 7 p.m. at the Statehouse Convention Center." Unfortunately, according to the liberal website FireDogLake, Clinton has decided not to attend as a result of some of the... Read Full Story

GOP advisers: Giuliani leans toward a Senate race

From:  ap.org
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has not decided whether to run for governor but is becoming more interested in running for U.S. Senate, two Republican advisers said Thursday. "From staff, we have been hearing that he has been indicating quietly and privately recently that governor might not be the best fit for him now," one adviser said, "but the U.S. Senate could be a perfect fit for him." The adviser noted that no one is saying Giuliani has made a decision, but that it "certainly... Read Full Story

Black power has arrived _ with some new challenges

From:  ap.org
Ten months after Democrats took over the Capitol and the first African-American president moved into the White House, black lawmakers are in control of some of the most powerful positions in Congress — and face new challenges to using their long-sought influence. There have been some victories — guaranteeing that stimulus money reaches some of the poorest parts of the country, expanding hate crimes legislation and moving to close health care disparities. But "in some ways, our strategies... Read Full Story

Sarah Palin pushes book -- and perhaps political comeback

From:  afp.com
Sarah Palin, queen of the Republican right, was to meet TV talk queen Oprah Winfrey on Monday at the start of a frenzied book tour -- and, some believe, an unlikely White House challenge. The slot on Oprah kicks off an unusually high profile tour for a political memoir and highlights Palin's return from the sidelines after her failed run for vice president alongside John McCain last year and surprise resignation as governor of Alaska. "Going Rogue: an American Life" goes on sale Tuesday, but... Read Full Story

Giuliani leads Gillibrand in possible Senate race.

Polling was conducted by the Siena Research Institute. With the political world erupting over the news Giuliani is leaning towards a run for the United States Senate, a political poll released on Tuesday probably had some effect on Giuliani's reasoning of whether or not a run would be worth it. With under 12 months to the 2010 Senate election, Giuliani leads Gillibrand by a 49-43% margin, this is the first time Gillibrand has posted an over 40% showing in months, however, at that time she...
