In this special series, we will offer a quick glimpse at each potential candidate to represent the Republican ticket for 2012. First up, Mitt Romney.
Barack Obama hasn’t even taken office yet and Republican’s are already speculating who will be the top choice to represent their ticket in 2012. After McCain’s failed attempt to become America’s next President, the GOP has called together a meeting to regroup and figure out where they went wrong. It was said that McCain tried to appeal to too many different groups during his bid for President. So, who better to bring together these multiple groups than a guy who could potentially bring together multiple wives?!
The next great white hope? Nope.
Willard Mitt Romney, businessman, former governor of Massachusetts and Mormon is expected to make another run at the White house in 2012. Following in the footsteps of his parents, failed presidential candidate, George Romney and failed Senate candidate, Lenore Romney, Mitt failed at his own run for the White House in 2008.
At a glance, Mitt’s political career started when he ran for Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat in 1994, losing after Kennedy called the (then) pro-choice Romney “multiple choice.” However, Romney was later elected governor of Massachusetts in 2002. Unfazed by low approval ratings (70% of Massachusetts residents rated him “fair to poor”), Romney decided to run for president at the conclusion of his term in January 2007.
Not long later, Romney suspended his presidential campaign as voters overwhelmingly agreed that the best thing for America was for him to NOT be President.
Romney is currently against abortion and gay marriage. I stress “currently” because he changes his mind like my ex-girlfriends change their phone numbers. He is also against stem cell research, even though his wife is diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
There you have it. Everything you didn’t care to know about Mitt Romney. Next up in our series, Newt Gingrich.
