Barack Obama Wins North Carolina

Minutes after the polls closed in North Carolina, the media has called the state for Senator Barack Obama. That means he’s gotten a sizable victory and exit polls are showing him winning 91% of the black vote, which is good considering Obama was being criticized for not being black enough this last summer.

In Indiana meanwhile, Clinton is holding on to a 57% - 43% lead over Obama with 25% of the precincts reporting. However, that doesn’t include the Northwestern region, including Lake County, which is going to carry the bulk of Obama’s votes along with Indianapolis where there is a large African American population.

Quite frankly though, he’s not going to find enough votes in these two areas to make up for 16% of the vote. Especially since Hillary Clinton has campaigned aggressively in Lake and Porter Counties, which Obama will need if he wants to get anywhere close to his rival.

In Northwest Indiana, expect Clinton to carry Benton, Jasper, Newton and probably Porter and LaPorte Counties with Obama carrying Lake County, which is 25% African American. Also keep your eye’s open for information on Luke Puckett in District 2 and his Republican race. The national party needs him to win.
