PBS' Gwen Ifill
by Sharon Kyle
All this talk on Fox News about Gwen Ifill’s objectivity being compromised because she has a soon to be released book entitled, “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama” sounds a lot like much ado about nothing.
I did a little searching and found that PBSs Jim Lehrer, moderator of several consecutive presidential debates dating back twenty years is quite a prolific author. According to Amazon.com, Jim Lehrer has authored at least 17 novels... Read Full Story

Yes, folks. That would be Gwen Ifill in no way to be confused with Gwenn Eyefull. It took years of study and research to write this epic look into the literal ones of years that comprise the “Age Of Obama”, but Gwen came through. She spen countless hours rifling through microfilm and old newspaper clipings to gather little known data all the way back to 2004. Despite the fact that this... Read Full Story
I have been made an effort since I started writing this blog to make as much of it “original content” as possible, and to avoid merely “commenting” on other stories. However, sometimes I just cannot let a news story go by without interjecting. Today is such a day. You see, today we have reached an all time low in terms of media credibility. Its not enough that so called “independent” pundits like Chris Matthews admit to getting tingly when Obama speaks (watch him admit that here ) or that... Read Full Story
First, Happy Birthday to one of my favorite journalists, Gwen Ifill ! Gwen hosts Washington Week with Gwen Ifill and is a and is a senior correspondent on The Newshour with Jim Lehrer . Gwen also has the distinction of moderating this Thursday's Vice Presidential debate between candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin. I'm sure Gwen will handle it with characteristic aplomb, which may be no small feat given the two she's dealing with. McCain's erratic behavior last week , allegedly "suspending... Read Full Story

newVideoPlayer("/feisty_brokaw_gawker.flv", 506, 423,""); Tom Brokaw was determined last night that he wasn't going to put up with any crap from presidential candidates or their running mates, who had their way with previous debate moderators Jim Lehrer and Gwen Ifill. So every time John McCain or Barack Obama broke one of the debate rules, Brokaw delivered a verbal slap. The 5 Vote(s) Read Full Story
CBS veteran broadcaster Bob Schieffer has vowed to stand firm when he moderates the final presidential debate tonight, and will press the candidates to answer questions put to them, Politico reports. Jim Lehrer, Gwen Ifill and Tom Brokaw have come under fire for being too easy on candidates in previous televised debates. Schieffer may be aided by an in-your-face format in which he and the candidates will be seated together. Read Full Story
My dictionary defines "moderator" as "the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting." On Thursday, PBS anchor Gwen Ifill will serve as moderator for the first and only vice presidential debate. The stakes are high. The Commission on Presidential Debates, with the assent of the two campaigns, decided not to impose any guidelines on her duties or questions. But there is nothing "moderate" about where Ifill stands on Barack Obama. She's so far in the tank for the Democratic presidential... Read Full Story

On the eve of the Vice Presidential debate, the impartiality of Moderator Gwen Ifill has been brought into question. Ifill is currently working on a book that “includes material” about Barack Obama. Ifill has responded to the criticism by saying that Obama’s story, which she has yet to write, is only a small part of the book, which discusses how politics in the black community have changed since the civil rights era.
So what is the title of this book about politics that Obama is only a... Read Full Story
