No more motivational slogans from coach Mike Tomlin. No more talk of his Pittsburgh Steelers redeeming themselves for past mistakes. No more grandiose promises to unleash havoc on the NFL for the rest of the season. Tomlin's response to the Super Bowl champions' latest improbable loss and the franchise's longest losing streak since 2003? He's taking out an eraser and wiping away names. A starter gone here, a backup moving up there. A rookie starts, a veteran goes to the bench. The Steelers... Read Full Story
The Who will perform at halftime of the Super Bowl this season. The NFL announced during Thursday's game between the Oakland Raiders and Dallas Cowboys that the longtime rock band known for classic hits such as "Pinball Wizard" and "Baba O'Riley" will play Feb. 7 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami. Driven by singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist and songwriter Pete Townshend, the band's two remaining original members, The Who gained fame in the mid-1960s and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall... The number one reason why the NBA playoffs are better than the NBA playoffs is that the NBA has best of seven series while the NFL has single game series. In the NFL, every play in every playoff game is far more important than individual plays in basketball playoffs. This makes NFL playoffs more exciting to watch and, sure enough, the NFL gets more viewers than the NBA, but it also means that if an NFL team has the misfortune of a really, really bad play, it can cost them the playoff game... Raymond Stadium Sign “Of course Pittsburg is going to win.” says my day job boss, “It’s just a matter of by how much. If they don’t make the point spread, a lot of people are going to lose.”
He was, of course, referring to the bets bookies around the world are taking.
The Steelers are odds on favorite for this Sunday’s gridiron match-up and with good reason.
The team . . is one of three teams to have won the Super Bowl five times. No team has played more conference... Read Full Story
Sunday, February 1, was a beautiful day – bright and cool. We got up early, bade farewell to my brother’s friend, Barb, and set out on our first quest – to find a car wash. We couldn’t show up to the Super Bowl in a dirty Mustang. Once that was accomplished, we set off for Tampa. Around Orlando, we stopped and got some breakfast. Seeing us in our Steelers’ finery, a young man in his Sunday best had to tell us that he was pulling for the Cardinals. This has become a recurring story since I’ve... Read Full Story
I wanted two things on Super Bowl Sunday, a victory for the Pittsburgh Steelers and a Chocolate Pistachio Bunt Cake. As it turned out, I got both. This is how you make the Chocolate Pistachio Bundt Cake.... Combine 1 box yellow cake mix, 1/2 cup water, 4 eggs and 1 1/2 tablespoon oil in a large bowl. Mix in 1 1/2 box pistachio pudding mix. Add 1/2 pint sour cream and blend to moisten. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Pour about 3/4 of the batter into a well greased bundt cake pan. If you're so... Read Full Story

Some of our athletes have been made to feel that the earth revolves around them and their needs -- narcissistic behavior. When the Super Bowl XLIII champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, visit the White House, they will be doing so without the presence of their " Greek Adonis ," (sarcasm intended) linebacker James Harrison. He told Pittsburgh's WTAE Channel 4 Action News anchor Andrew Stockey, "I don't feel the need to go, actually." "I don't feel like it's that big a deal to me." He also... Read Full Story
