Alfonso Cuaron’s new sci-fi project has all the makings of being an epic sci-fi movie. Its got two great stars: George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Its it puts one survival skills to the test, IN SPACE. And it said it will be a ground-breaking combination of live-action and CGI, possibly made to look as if it is assembled from only a few takes. Guillermo del Toro has said the movie is “absolutely pushing a new boundary in filmmaking, completely mind-blowing.
That last bit makes it sound like, directors might use the same method of production for their future projects. Its an ingenious was of filming a movie and could change the way directors helm it.
But one way Cuaron is keeping his newest Sci-Fi venture grounded is something you might have not have considered.
Bullock says that she (and perhaps Clooney) performed without makeup.
USA Today talked to Bullock, who said,
God help us all when my face comes rushing at you with no makeup on. I’m going to apologize now, but Alfonso, in a brilliant move, said, ‘No makeup.’
While that may sound great, I believe that there could be some digital makeup thrown into the mix, depending on the scene itself. Of course they might not have opted for that and just go 100% without make up.
Here is the synopsis for Gravity:
The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.
