Tara McPherson's Black Heart Of Gold Dunny coming May 24

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Alongside the Misko series release, Kidrobot will be releasing its next 20-inch Dunnys, Tara McPherson's Black Heart of Gold. Available in two editions — Pink and Blue — these two don't come cheap at US$400 a pop. That puts them out of my price range for sure, but they don't look too bad on the design front at the very least. These two will be available starting Thursday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com and select retailers worldwide. In addition to the release, Kidrobot...Read Full Story

Most Wanted: Behind the Hype celebrates custom vinyl

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Those of you who like custom Dunnys are probably awfully familiar with the Most Wanted Dunny series. The series got its start with a gathering of artists who hadn't been included in Dunny series before but were popular, and gave them free reign to customize Dunnys as they so chose to later be sold in a limited blind-boxed fashion. It's proved popular enough to be in its third incarnation now, and to kick off Most Wanted III's release, 1AM Gallery is playing host to a new custom show, Most...Read Full Story

Rumorpop: This is Dunny Series 2012

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Well, well, well. What do we have here? It is purportedly the leaked ratio chart for Dunny Series 2012, featuring the new designs for this year's blind-boxed series, and there are some very unique pieces among the 15 Dunnys shown. Now, remember that this is not official, so anything could change; for example, DrilOne's Dunny Series 2011 piece gained a gas mask between the leaked ratio list and the final one. So who's in? Munnyworld 2011 contest winner Sergio Mancini and Kidrobot mainstays MAD...Read Full Story

Dunny Series 20XX: Part 1 in a series

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
If Kidrobot has gotten flack for its blind-boxed Dunny series, one of the major sources of discontent (along with the ever-rising price) was that they kept going back to the same artists over and over again for their series. There was an increasing need for fresh blood, so to speak, and for a while, there were plenty of folks not satisfied with the status quo, including yours truly. With Dunny Series 2011, some new names got into the mix, but that got me wondering: what would it be like if...Read Full Story

Dunny Series 20XX: Part 2

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Yesterday, we kicked off Dunny Series 20XX, unveiling the first four artists to be featured in our magical, hypothetical blind-boxed Dunny series. We still have 16 left to go, though, and today brings around another four selections to look at/debate over/agree or disagree with. One of them you might know under a different name, and their inclusion is perhaps a bit surprising. Hit the jump to check them out! Suddenly, argyle. ARGYLE EVERYWHERE. Errr ... *clears throat* Scott Tolleson might...Read Full Story

Dunny Series 20XX: Part 5

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Today marks the final installment of our five-part Dunny Series 20XX feature. Sixteen artists from both inside the custom world and outside of it have been featured, but the final four contains at least one artist who's been mentioned multiple times in these kind of features ... and three others that probably have not. Hit the jump to check out the final four! No, it's not much of a shock to see Chris included on the list. A highly popular artist, Chris Ryniak is often one of the names most...Read Full Story

Dunny Series 20XX: Part 3

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
It's the third installment of Dunny Series 20XX at the halfway point of the week. We've seen eight artists get a spotlight moment so far, and today, four more join the list for our Dunny series featuring artists that haven't gotten an official Dunny before. And the fun thing about this group? All four have had their work appear on Tomopop before ... one of them in a rather memorable post back when Tomopop was in its infancy. Join me after the jump! Cris Rose + Dunny = magic. Already having...Read Full Story

Dunny Series 20XX: Part 4

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Part four of Dunny Series 20XX is ready for reading, and today's artists come from across the globe, from as far away as Russia and as close as Florida. Whether they're building robots, ninjas, cute creatures or ... weird stretchy things, each of these artists is one that I'd like to see get a Dunny one day. Well, at least if I had any ACTUAL say in the matter ... You know what to do. Hit the jump and let's check out the next four artists! From Russia with love comes the handcrafted stylings...Read Full Story

Kidrobot, Koralie's Arlequine Dunny coming Thursday

By Destructoid on  From tomopop.com
Last month, Kidrobot dropped a surprise on everyone with the release of Chauskoskis' Birro the Clown as an official 3-inch Dunny. Now, popping up on the Kidrobot blog is the next 3-inch regular release, Koralie's Arelquine. The little acrobat comes with a balloon and looks really, really nice! I'm not normally a fan of Koralie's Dunnys, but there's something about this one with its look and story about a shy circus performer that doesn't really want the spotlight that appeals to me. Ready for...Read Full Story
