DOS, Backscatter, ATT and 4chan

By janke on  From blog.lastinfirstout.net
If I’ve got the story straight, it goes something like this: 4chan.org is subject to a DDOS attack. 4chan attempts to block the DOS, and in the process, unintentionally DOS’s one or more of ATT customers. ATT ‘blocks’ 4chan. The world comes to and end. Forget network neutrality, evil empires, Haliburton, black helicopters and aliens from area 51. Let’s try for a simple explanation, assuming that nobody is evil and everyone is incompetent. It’s speculative, but has the advantage of...Read Full Story

Tea Party Website Invaded By “Anonymous” Internet Group

By davecabbage on  From offdainnertube.blogspot.com
theregister.co.uk ~ A website run by the conservative Tea Party movement was overrun by the denizens of 4chan on Tuesday. Website vulnerabilities on the official teaparty.org website allowed pranksters to divert surfers landing on the photo section of the site to smut and shock sites. It's unclear what website security shortcomings were exploited in that attack and whether these are now closed. 4chan /b/ Bullies Girl

By ToeKneeManGo on  From outonlimbs.com
Alright, so apparently last night or so, the folks over at 4chan.org ran into a situation where some girl posted nude pictures of herself, they proceeded to say some negative things, and she got all upset and cried. Now, I don't know the full story, but that seems to be it. And people are going nuts over it. Why? What's up with this "they've gone too far" nonsense? I'm certainly not the guy to talk to if you want some expert opinion on 4chan, as I don't like the layout of the site and the...Read Full Story

AT&T Unblocks 4Chan: Can’t We All Just Get Along?

By Chris Monty on  From blippitt.com
It seems that within hours of AT&T blocking 4chan, the site’s members had launched their attack on AT&T, including starting a rumor about the (fake) death of AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson geared to lower the company’s stock price. AT&T confirmed the partial block, stating that the company was “following the practices of their policy department.” Now, however, AT&T customers are reporting that 4chan is now unblocked.  What’s ironic is that 4chan is currently suffering from a massive DDOS attack...Read Full Story

AT&T: 4chan block due to DDoS attack coming from 4chan IPs

By techclack on  From techclack.com
This weekend did not go well for AT&T. The broadband provider began blocking access to parts of 4chan on Sunday (img.4chan.org, which of course includes /b/) thanks to what AT&T says was a denial of service attack coming from that domain. AT&T was uncommunicative with customers at the onset of the 4chan blockage, leaving many users questioning whether the telecom was trying to censor 4chan Read the original post:  AT&T: 4chan block due to DDoS attack coming from 4chan IPsRead Full Story

AT&T Blocks 4chan, This Could Get Ugly

By Chris Monty on  From blippitt.com
AT&T has reportedly declared was on 4chan.  Do they know what they’re getting themselves into?  Probably not. AT&T has begun blocking some of 4chan.org’s most highly trafficked message boards, including the infamous /b/ board. moot, who began 4chan and runs the site to this day, has already written a post about this on the 4chan status blog. The censorship at this time extended only to AT&T DSL customers, with wireless (3G) customers believed to be unaffected. Word began to spread about the...Read Full Story
