55 Flash Fiction stories are ultra-short works of (usually) fiction that must make up a complete, self sufficient story -- even if the story is part of a larger whole. The catch? The story must be EXACTLY 55 words, no more, no less. Some writers have strung together "serial-55's" making up a larger story, which is allowable as long as each segment can stand on its own.
If you're up for a writing challenge, there is a group of 55'ers that presents each week in 55 Flash Fiction Friday. Even if you don't submit a story of your own, the submissions of these writers is usually quite entertaining. And you certainly can't complain that they're overly verbose! Flash Fiction of fifty-five words is often harder than it looks. This one took me about a day to polish.
There they were, staring at him, eight by ten glossies of guilt. His one and only sin had become more than just another Kodak moment.
As he got the books and began to look for places he could skim the extortion money from, the priest realized, for the first time, how tight his collar felt.
