A homeless 4.0 GPA student at Griffin Technical College that was displaced by Hurricane Katrina is presently sleeping in a 95 Ford Explorer in Riverdale, Ga. The student was denied foodstamps by Clayton County-DFAS because she is not working at least 20-hours/wk while attending school. A FEMA representative informed her that her case was closed because THEY did not meet their deadline on February 28, 2007. Letters / emails has been sent to the Congressman of District 13, the Mayor of Riverdale, the Whitehouse and to the Speaker of the House and yet nothing has been accomplished in two-years.

The displaced victim has been denied assistance with housing because she was not on section 8, public housing or living in a HUD home prior to the hurricane. They are only helping them first.
