Joey Pinkney: Where did you get the inspiration to write Five Steps to Draw Closer to God?Doranda Jacques: I started noticing that a lot of people did not have a relationship with God. They knew about Him, but that was about it. I wanted to help others draw closer to Him.When I became a Christian, I didn’t know what to do to get closer to God. I knew about God, but deep inside of me, I felt there was more. I needed more. Moreover, there are many people, who had a relationship with God, but something may have happen in their lives and they withdrew away from God.I wanted to write a book that was straight to the point and practical. I believe this book will help others re-establish their relationship with God again. God is married to the backslider. He will always take you back, and this book will help many do that. That’s where my inspiration comes from.JP: What sets Five Steps to Draw Closer to God apart from other books in the same genre?DJ: It’s a simple quick-guide to getting results without complicating religion with jargon. This book gets straight to the point and gives the reader the ability to start the practical part of the steps immediately. This is what you want to do, and this is how you can do it. Now get to it. That’s the basis of this book.JP: As an author, what are the keys to your success that led to Five Steps to Draw Closer to God getting out to the public?DJ: Patience, the desire to help others build a relationship with God, trusting God with the right timing, writing something that I believe in and practicing what I preach are also keys to my success and of course social media.I got a lot of positive feedback from my readers, and many started to evaluate their relationship with God. What’s great about this book is that even non-Christians can benefit from developing their relationship with God. This book is suitable for adults, teenagers, anyone can pick it up and find the help they need in drawing closer to God.JP: As an author, what is your writing process? How long did it take you to start and finish Five Steps to Draw Closer to God?DJ: My writing process is to write my thoughts down immediately, even if it’s on a piece of napkin, which I have a lot of (lol), so I can go back and put that thought on paper. Sometimes a book title comes to mind, and I make a note of it for future reference.I do a lot of research on scriptures and whatever topic I want to write about. I maintain a blog, so it constantly keeps me in the writing mode. It took me two years, even for such a small book, because I wanted to be careful that the book can be realistic and practical. I didn’t want my readers to feel like drawing closer to God is impossible, when it is 100% possible, no matter what situation they are in.I was also being patient with timing and trusting God for the right words at the right time. I think it’s best to go with what God is leading you to write and listen to your intuition. I am very happy on how the book turned out, and I look forward to getting it in the hands of readers across the globe.JP: What’s next for Doranda Jacques?DJ: I’m currently looking for a publisher for my second book. I’m publishing Me, Myself & God Journal. It will be available on Amazon.com next month. It’s a journal book, for those who like to keep a journal of their life. I also started writing a Daily Devotional in conjunction with Drawing Closer to God, due to be released by the end of this year. @ http://joeypinkney.com/african-american-author/5-minutes-5-questions-with-doranda-jacques-author-of-five-steps-to-draw-closer-to-god.php http://loveruleswisdomisgold.blogspot.comhttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Doranda-Jacques/255286424501302http://twitter.com/DorandaJhttp://contributor.yahoo.com/user/779952/doranda_jacques.htmlhttp://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Doranda_Jacques
