After about a week of intense rumors A.J. Burnett is still a Yankee. Here is the latest:

• There is still a lot of optimism that a deal with the Pirates will still get done with them paying $13 million of the $33 million he is owed over the next two years, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
• An unknown team brought a trade proposal yesterday, but Pittsburgh remains the most likely destination, according to Buster Olney of ESPN.
• Three weeks ago, Burnett rejected a deal to the Angels that would have brought Bobby Abreu back to the Bronx, Olney reported.
