Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton appears to be a man on a mission this season. Hamilton went 5-5 with 4 HRs, 8 RBI, and 18 total bases (an AL record) last night in the Rangers win over the Orioles. The St. Louis Cardinals pounded line drive after line drive off A.J. Burnett and racked up 12 runs in the first three innings. Rafael Furcal started the show with a leadoff single, and the Cardinals never slowed. A.J. Burnett allowed four runs in the first inning, at which point the game was more or less over, and then the Pirates for some reason let him run out there and allow eight more, for a staggering total of 12. That total included two homers by Carlos Beltran. Burnett's ERA is now 8.04, which is amazing given how good his first two starts were.
