There is a difference in auto parts.
I recently had a intake manifold replaced on a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville (115,700 miles) and learned that the ACDelco replacement part had a new design that reinforced a plastic stove pipe that could corrode over time causing a coolant leak, which is what I had. Dorman also makes a replacement part which is the old design leading to the same problem.
This is just one example of several I have come across where ACDelco products have superior design and engineering.
Don't be afraid to ask for ACDelco parts when repairing your car.

The whole ACDelco replacement part phenomena is fed so much by propaganda. Do you honestly think ACDelco is better? where are their manufacturing facilities? right they don't exist. Who is making Delco's electronics line this year, correct Standard/Bluestreak, belts is it Dayco? yes. ACDelco parts are nothing more than a marketing name.

... Thats funny I am pretty sure that it was ACDelcos "superior designs" that have been causing every gm owner with a 3.4 or 3.8 or the wonderful 2.4l quad 4 to replace intake manifolds annually.
Dormans intakes are far superior, they have been using plastic reinforcement for years.
If the stovepipe you are referring to is the small tube on top of the manifold, it always cracks because gm used a plastic version that constantly cracks... it is a 20 minute fix and if you order a replacement from gm it is brass.
I run a parts store and I am an ACDelco authorized reseller.

starters and alternators are MBA. The rubber is gates...
Well said. AC Delco is on it's way out. Nothing more than a marketing team.
I thought ACDelco was to OE specs and the other guys did their own specs? I think ACDelco is far superior.
I used to like AcDelco, but there ties to GM are little now. Motorcraft on the other hand is still part of Ford and sells and produces Ford made parts. Some of their stuff is farmed out to other companys, but it has to meet Ford OE specs. Their oil is the best at their price and it always feels good to use their filters and oil in my Ford.
