This year's Tour of Germany winner Linus Gerdemann has transferred from Team Columbia to the only remaining German professional outfit Team Milram, it was announced on Wednesday.
After weeks of contract negotiation, the 26-year-old had his contract, which was valid until 2009, terminated by Columbia team boss Bob Stapleton and both teams confirmed the transfer for the coming season.
"We are very happy about the signing of Linus Gerdemann. After long negotiations, we can finally confirm the transfer," said Milram team manager Gerry van Gerwen.
"In Linus we have the rider we most wanted, who will lead Team Milram in the coming years."
Gerdemann won the seventh stage on the Tour de France last year, but missed this year's Tour and the Beijing Olympics after breaking his leg in the Tirreno Adriatico race in Italy last March.
