Being able to say that your microprocessor powers the world’s fastest supercomputer is quite an accomplishment and certainly goes a long way in reputation building. AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) now holds this distinction in the semiannual TOP500 list as the worlds fastest supercomputer, the Jaguar-Cray XT5-HE, was powered by the six-core AMD Opteron platform.
