The Other Ashmore

Aaron AshmoreShawn “Iceman” Ashmore (X-Men, X2: X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand) isn’t the only star in the family after all.  Twin brother, Aaron Ashmore has been tearing up as supporting character Jimmy Olsen on Smallville for a while now, and before that with a regular role on Veronica Mars.  And now it seems his star is beginning to shine on the big screen.

According to THR.com, Ashmore has joined the cast of new indie thriller “The Thaw” opposite Val Kilmer (Top Gun, Columbus Day) and Martha MacIsaac (Superbad).  The film is about and Arctic research team that is attacked by a killer parasite that is released when the polar caps begin melting.  Ashmore’s character is that of a college student that is trapped along with the rest of the crew.

This, of course, isn’t Aaron’s first foray into film, nor is Smallville his first foray into TV.  In fact, the 28 year old actor, who is one minute older than brother Shawn, has been acting pretty consistently since 1991 playing as many roles as his brother.   Shawn just got his big break first, but now it’s big bro’s turn.

The Thaw isn’t the only film he will be involved with in the near future though.  Later this year, he willplay Pat Kinkade in Thomas Kincade’s Home for Christmas, which stars fellow CW Network star Jared Padalecki (Supernatural).   Two more films currently in post-production, Privileged (starring Adam Butcher (Terminal City) and Nikki Reed (The O.C.)) and Dead End (starring Haylie Duff (7th Heaven) and Lucy Hale (The O.C.)) will also see Ashmore playing a part.

This very well may be the year of the Ashmore… the OTHER Ashmore.
