Aaron Harang took another step in getting beyond his dismal 2008 season, pitching four scoreless innings Wednesday during the Cincinnati Reds' 8-2 victory over the Houston Astros. CINCINNATI, Aug. 24 (UPI) --
Cincinnati Reds right-hander Aaron Harang will miss the balance of the 2009 baseball season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.
The Reds said on their Web site the procedure followed an examination Saturday while they were in Pittsburgh. Harang said he felt a sharp pain when he woke up Saturday morning.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Joann Lohr at The Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.
