Former NFF Scholar-Athlete and former Ole Miss All-American, Eli Manning, is the main benefactor of the newly christened Eli Manning's Children Clinics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. The wing, which cost 2.5 million to construct, is 15,600 square feet and will service 75,000 children per year. Eli's father, NFF Chairman Archie Manning, was in attendance for the dedication on Friday. The wing officially opened May 4.

Joseph Hunter Tipton,
an honors graduate from Maryville High School in Maryville, Tenn., has been named 2009 recipient of the Peyton Manning Scholarship. The scholarship has been awarded annually since 1998 to a first-year student participating in UT's Honors Program in honor of Manning, 1997 All-America selection and NFF Draddy Trophy winner. Peyton Manning and UT Director of Financial Aid Jeff Gerkin joined Hunter and his parents David and Donna along with his brothers Taylor and Spenser during the June 22 ceremony at the Thornton Athletics Student Life Center. The presentation took place directly in front of the "Peyton Manning Study Area," another byproduct of the Manning years at Tennessee.

2009 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Steve McMichael (Texas) coached the Chicago Slaughter to a 58-48 victory over the Fort Wayne Freedom in the CIFL Championship Game last Saturday night at the Sears Centre. With that victory, the Slaughter sealed up their first-ever CIFL Championship and undefeated season.

U.S. Congressman Richard Burgess and U.S. Congresswomen Kay Granger hosted a fundraising event for NFF board member Roger Williams' U.S. Senate Exploratory Committee. Among those in attendance were TCU's Bob Lilly, member of the 1981 College Football Hall of Fame class, former TCU AD Frank Windegger, TCU AD Donny Morrison and boxing promoter Don King.

Led by NFF board member Joe Castiglione, the Oklahoma athletics department has designated a total of $7 million for university academic programs from athletics revenue.

The NFF Delaware Valley Chapter is hosting the 13th annual Sunshine All-Star Classic
between teams of 30 graduating high school seniors in East- West format Thursday at Lions Stadium at the College of New Jersey in Ewing. The event has helped raise over $75,000 for the Sunshine Foundation in the Garden State.

The NFF Los Angeles Chapter honored 64 top scholar-athletes at its 46th annual
banquet with UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel (a 1979 NFF local High School Scholar-Athlete), Tennessee All-America Willie Gault and 2005 College Football Hall of Fame inductee John Huarte of Notre Dame on hand as featured speakers.

The NFF National Capital Chapter received words of encouragement from 2008 Liberty
Mutual FCS Coach of the Year Mickey Matthews of James Madison and honored Trevor Lawler of Georgetown Prep as 2008 National Chapter Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The NFF Gene Casey/New Haven (Conn.) Chapter held its 49th annual Scholar-Athlete Banquet while honoring George DeMaio as Chapter Merit Award recipient, Dr. Leroy Williams as Distinguished American, Kevin Moffet as Outstanding Official Award and Mark Ecke as Coach of the Year. Yale 2009-10 freshman Roy Lester Collins of Choate-Rosemary Hall School spoke on behalf of the scholar-athletes, and Ash- Shaun Boston of the Hyde Leadership School was Scholar-Athlete of the Year prior to starting his playing career at Sacred Heart U. Frank Virgulton of Jonathan Law HS earned the Wayne and Gladys Valley Scholarship and will attend Fairfield starting in August.

Noah Seward received the NFF
Rochester Chapter High School Football Silver Scholarship Award and will be playing football at St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College as a pre-medicine major in 2009.

The NFF State of Maine Chapter
will hold its 10th annual golf tournament July 13 at Belgrade Lakes. The entry fee is $100, which includes golf, cart, refreshments, prizes and a membership in the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. For more information, email Howie Vandersea at: vanderse@suscomme.net.

The fourth annual Cincinnati Women's 101 Football Clinic
helped raise in excess of $8,000 for the UC Barrett Cancer Institute at University Hospital. Pacqui Kelly, wife of Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly, and Jeni Thomas, wife of AD Mike Thomas, hosted the event.

The 2009 Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame class, which was announced June 23, will include former Buckeye football players All-American Neal Colzie, All-American and Butkus Award winner Andy Katzenmoyer, Dick LeBeau and Pandel Savic.

The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA)
announced the 29 winners of the Under Armour AD of the Year Award June 16. Among those awarded were Tim Curley (Penn State), Damon Evans (Georgia), Lawrence Cunningham (Tulsa), Sandy Barbour (Cal), Lee McElroy (Albany), Sam Baker (Georgia Southern), Bill Rowe (Missouri State), Terry Wanless (Sacramento State), Edward Matejkovic (West Chester (Pa.)), Suzanna Sanregeret (Michigan Technological), Susan Petersen Lubow (U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (N.Y.)), Bill Blazer (Ohio Dominican), Dan Harris (Baker University (Kan.)) and Bruce Parker (Carroll College (Mont.)) . NACDA's 2009- 10 executive committee includes athletics directors Warde Manuel, Buffalo; Ed McLean, Fayetteville State University (N.C.); John Scarpino, Seminole (Okla.) Community College; Joe Tutt, South Plains (Texas) College; and John Volek, Sierra College. Missy Conboy, deputy athletics director, Notre Dame; Patty Viverito, commissioner, Missouri Valley Conference; and Dan Beebe, commissioner, Big 12 Conference were named as at-large representatives. NACDA also selected Florida State AD Randy Spetman to serve as president for the 2009-10 year.

Former Temple football letterman Bill Cosby received the Beacon of Hope award, given as part of the Gillette Civil Rights weekend on June 20 during a game between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox.
