ABIDJAN, Côte d'Ivoire, February 14, 2012/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- It was a great experience and a privilege to see the final match of the 28th edition of the Africa Nations Cup 2012 (CAN 2012) in the midst of an enthusiastic and united group of Ivorians in Gabon. For me it was an unforgettable experience, declared the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Côte d'Ivoire, Bert Koenders, in Abidjan, on Monday.
According to the head of the United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire (UNOCI), the Elephants played well during CAN 2012 and came an honourable second. The people of Côte d'Ivoire have every reason to be proud of their national team.
Mr Koenders called on Ivorians not to be discouraged and urged them to continue the reconciliation process and support the Elephants for the next CAN, which will be held in South Africa in 2013.
