Prince de Lignac

Bram van Leeuwen
(Born July 18, 1918 - Died May 27, 2001). Abraham van Leeuwen (or Leo for his friends), was born in Rotterdam. He was a former Dutch journalist and later turned multimillonair, whose parties on his yacht often appeared in the gossip columns and he was openly gay. He loved to be named as Prince the Lignac. Dutch former journalist and later self-made multi-millionaire, he frequently partied on board of his own yacht with stories about his partying appearing in the gossips and gay magazines. Prince the Lignac was born in Rotterdam, (as Abraham van Leeuwen, or “Leo” for his gay-friends)

He wrote a book: You too can become a millionaire (1995)

2001 - died “Prince” de Lignac (Bram van Leeuwen, 1818-2001), loved to be seen aboard his favorite luxurious yacht “New horizon L“. He went up from a poor journalist to a celebrity multi-millionaire. Made his fortune among other things with the Dutch institute Nederlands Taleninstituut and Lecturama. Gave large amounts to jewish anfd turkish charitable institutions. Sexually gay-orientation.

A.k.a. Prince the Lignac
Van Leeuwen made its fortune with sale of among others the Dutch language institute. Of the millions for which paid Vroom & Dreesmann, he bought himself a luxurious ship. People thought that he also bought the Prince title.

The Prince’s yacht had a substantial draught: approx. 4 meters or over 13 feet. A strong room aboard (an armoured suite with a vault-like door). Really remarkable was that Bram actually lived on the yacht. (His favorite room being the piano lounge on the bridge deck.) Except for the ship going into a dock for maintenance he must have spent most of the year onboard.

His title supposedly was an honorary one granted, along with another title, that of Duke of Soveria, as a result of his assisting in anti-Nazi activities. He was only 20 years old in 1938. Can somebody assist me in listing of his anti-Nazi activities more detailed? Also, who presently owns his former yacht, known as White Cloud now? A certain Diller?

This is Lignac’s  signature at Mozarts Cafe, San Francisco:

Prince Leo of Lignac, Duke of Soveria Simeri, France.

There are many restaurants in San Francisco, there is only one Café Mozart and one Fred and Jason. …
