How bout an early prediction for 2010 Oscar nominees? Lets begin with listing 10 movies first. And then in the forthcoming days we can zero down on top 5. Let me just use the power of my wildest guess work and try and get close to the Academy’s choices. This is gonna be fun folks !!
My last year’s bet was on Slumdog Millionaire. And the film won big time at the Oscars, picking up some of the most prestigeous awards from Best Film to Best director. And that surely gave me a higher edge to play the game of gamble again trying my luck out. Last year I won a dinner date, lets see what destiny fetches me this year.
My thoughts, right now, are garnering on two films the most: Avatar and Inglourious Basterds. Leaving these two the rest 8 I will pick from those that have created a bigger buzz in the audience.
Here is a list of 10 films of my choice that I bet upon as nominees of the 2010 Academy Awards:
Avatar – In every possivility it seems James Cameron will live up to his Titanic Oscar record with 2009 release, Avatar. The Academy will surely consider the film in top categories just because it’s an impossible to ignore film.
Inglourious Basterds – A WW II film in full swing of violence by Quentin Tarantino is a sure pick because the competition is just not too difficult for this master piece.
Nine – After a long time here come a star-studded movie musical from an Oscar-nominated director. Surely could be an Oscar bet this time.
Up / Fantastic Mr Fox – Well, this might just surprise you but I very strongly feel one of these two animated films actually has a shot at a Best Picture nomination besides playing an important pick in the Best Animated Feature Film category.
A Serious Man – The Coen Brothers are surely Oscar favorites. Don’t need to add anything much.
Up in the Air – Jason Reitman’s 3rd film received some of the best reviews of the year. The Academy can’t just let this go easy.
A Single Man – Colin Firth’s performance is drawing rave reviews and that might be enough to prompt this to a Best Picture nomination.
Precious – Best Picture is a sure thing to showcase Precious. We can also expect the film to nod nominations in various other.
The Hurt Locker – Is there any debate on this?
An Education – 144 critics rated this as the best in Rotten Tomatoes. Sounds like exactly the sort of film Academy members love.
