Adam Eaton

Adam Eaton

Adam Eaton is a professional baseball player. He's a right-handed pitcher for the Texas Rangers and wears number 21. He is managed by pitching manager Mark Connor.

Witness.

We were all excited for opening day, but that pales in comparison to today's action...the 2008 debut for Gavin Eaton.

As Eaton begins what could be a season of historic greatness, I think it is worth keeping an eye on how close he is to some all-time numbers.

Wins - 64. He is only 236 short of 300.

K - 763, a mere 2237 away from 3000.

*At his current pace, Eaton will reach 300 wins and 3000 Ks midway through 2035 season. Whether the Phils can lock him up long-term is another question.

Saves - Eaton has yet record a save in his career, but if the Phils would move him to the pen like they did with Myers last year (we all know having your best pitcher throw four times a week is better than only one), Eaton should have a shot at the single season save record. [It may be too late in his career for the all-time saves record.]

Game Preview
Eaton faces Aaron Harang today in Cincy. Harang has won 32 games in the last two years, finished fourth in the Cy Young voting in 2006. He's obviously no match for Eaton. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Harang trying to get Eaton's autograph sometime before the game.
Prediction: Phils win 4-0, Eaton goes the distance allowing only a broken-bat single and striking out 12.
