Houston Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada told the Astros that he is actually thirty-three, not thirty-one like the team roster says. Tejada said he was actually nineteen when he told the Athletics, who were scouting him, that he was seventeen: "I was a poor kid," Tejada said before the Astros finished a three-game series against the Phillies on Thursday. In what comes as not much of a surprise it turns out Miguel Tejada isn’t as young as he claimed to be. ESPN.com reports after doing some investigating and a little legal work in the All-Star’s native Dominican Republic, he is actually two years older then the Astros’ media guide says. The Houston Astros shortstop told the Oakland Athletics when he was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 1993 that he was 17.
