Costa Rica Medical Tourism Services has recognized the serious health care issues faced by millions of people who are addicted to prescription and recreational drugs and who need access to affordable addiction treatment centers. Recent studies estimate that over 38 million people in the United States are addicted to some kind of drug, be it recreational or prescription. All these people should be in an addictions treatment centers and Costa Rica Medical Tourism Services offers an effective alternative to traditional addiction treatment centers.

The rehab program facilities are operated by highly experienced and dedicated Nueva Vida Health and Wellness Retreat staff .

We tailor the addictions treatment program to individual needs and objectives of the clients.

Nueva Vida offers an innovative drug addiction treatment program based on the assumption that a person with an addiction problem is not broken.

We take a different approach where we guide our clients to look within and ask the question:

"WHAT'S RIGHT WITH ME?"

vs asking the normal question

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?

In Costa Rica we offer 30, 60 and 90 day options at our addictions treatment center, although we recommend 60 days to maximize the benefit of our program. Sixty days provides the client greater opportunity to naturalize new decisions, new behavior patterns and new thinking patterns into daily living. This allows these new patterns - aligned with the whole, healthy version of the client - adequate time to anchor into position as the new defaults replacing the unhealthy ones they replaced.

Costa Rica provides four important benefits for a patient when it comes to addictions treatment. These are:

  • The cost of addictions treatment center in Costa Rica is less that 1/3 to 1/2 of the cost of an addictions treatment center in the United States
  • Coming to Costa Rica for addictions treatment provides total anonymity – there will be no record of a patient’s addictions treatment – this means an employer, friend or family members need not know about a patient’s addiction treatment.
  • Our addictions treatment centers in Costa Rica are in an exotic location overlooking the Central Pacific Ocean.
  • Our addictions treatment centers provide a complete change of environment far from the influences of everyday modern life back home,  this helps significantly in the rehab process.
  • Our addictions treatment centers in Costa Rica offer the addict a total change in their environment that include climate and environment along with our exotic locations, promote physical, mental and spiritual well-being and makes it easier and much more pleasant for a patient to recover.

Once the patient is completes detox we transfer him/her to our addiction treatment center for further the next phase of creating their new life - hence the name: Nueva Vida Health and Wellness Center.

There are approximately 38 million people in need of drug or alcohol rehab in the United States alone. While people who are addicted to drugs isn’t just a 21st century problem, with the types and amounts of drugs available today the problem is more serious than ever. There are now many different types of prescription drugs that both teenagers and adults are abusing, as well as a recent increase in methamphetamine.

The fastest rising category of substance abuse in the United States in recent years is in the area of prescription drug addiction. Prescription drugs with high potential for abuse are commonly prescribed by doctors in America and unfortunately many people don’t view them to be dangerous, yet they can be every bit as harmful as illegal drugs.

Prescription drugs such as amphetamines given to kids for learning difficulties, narcotic painkillers given to adults for injuries and chronic pain, and anti-anxiety medications and sleep aids are often the most commonly abused. Readily available over-the-counter drugs can also fall into this category and a growing number of teenagers are abusing cough medicines and other commonly-found drugs.

Illegal drugs come in many types and forms.

Alcohol is still the most commonly-abused drug in the United States. Approximately 50 percent of Americans are current alcohol users, which opens the door for the largest percentage of abuse and often with devastating consequences.

While addiction is most commonly viewed as being a disease, this is still only a theory that has been forced into the minds of people. There is no hard evidence that addiction is an incurable brain disease. In fact, the opposite has shown to be true – people can and do completely beat their addictions every day and continue to lead very happy, productive and drug-free lives.

The right drug or alcohol rehab program, one that addresses all aspects of addiction, can help you achieve this too for yourself or a loved one.

There are many theories as to how and why a person becomes addicted to alcohol or other drugs. The truth is that every person has his or her own reason why they started using drugs, and while often takes the right rehab program to help them, ultimately it is within their power to overcome addiction.

A long term drug rehab program is usually over 90 days. While there is no “magic number” as to how long a treatment is; a treatment that lets the individual move at his or her own pace is better.

Most inpatient drug rehabs are only 28 or 30 days and that just isn’t enough time to produce significant long term recovery.

Unfortunately, there aren’t nearly enough residential beds available in the United States for those who need an effective drug rehab program. Up to 90 percent of addicts who receive some type of treatment each year attend outpatient counseling or meetings. In most cases, a longer-term residential (more than just 30 days) rehab program is going to produce better results.

Costa Rica Medical Tourism Services recommends a 60 day treatment plan in a foreign environment far away from the stress and influences of everyday life are the best method of assuring a successful and long lasting rehabilitation.
