(Getty Images)more pics »Adrian Gonzalez is making headlines today because of news that his trade to the Boston Red Sox from the San Diego Padres in exchange for multiple prospects is nearly complete. The first baseman is getting Boston fans pretty excited!
Adrian Gonzalez (Getty) Here's a bit of a bio about the Mexican baseball pro: In 2000 was the first infield position player to be drafted first overall since A-Rod when he was picked up by the Florida Marlins. From there, he played from 2004-2005 for the Texas Rangers, before getting picked up by the Padres in 2006.
He signed a 4-year deal with the San Diego team for $9.5 million in 2007 and led the team in home runs that year. He played a great 2010 season with 176 hits in 591 at bats, good for a .298 batting average. We'll see what he can do for the Red Sox next season!
