AMD Fusion Details Leaked

Fusion will be AMD’s first CPU+GPU on one chip and the first Fusion processor is code-named Shrike. The chip will consist of dual core Phenom CPU and ATI RV800 GPU core. The chip will be DirectX 10.1 compliant and will use 40nm production technology. It will be launched by second half of 2009. In 2010 AMD plans to shrink the size further by using 32nm processor technology. According to TG Daily 32nm Shrike chip is a stopgap before the next generation CPU core, code-named “Bulldozer” is launched. The Bulldozer based chips will be called “Falcon” and it should arrive by end of 2010. AMD has justified its ATI acquisition by talking about integration of CPU and GPU on the same chip and Fusion will be the first chip to showcase that. Lets hope AMD comes up with an impressive chip to compete with Intel’s domination on mobile processor market.
