Why I Love Agyness Deyn
Last week, I made the mistake of saying I thought Agyness Deyn's star had fallen. I made this assumption based on her photos from the Marc Jacobs runway show last week; Agyness appeared dowdy and frumpish in her silly little hat, and it seemed there was little-to-no fanfare over her appearance.

My boss noted Agyness has been constantly heralded as "the next Kate Moss," a veritable kiss-of-death in the fickle fashion industry. Perhaps, we reasoned, Agyness had become far too popular (and too commercial) for a lasting career in fashion.

We were wrong. Agyness is never going to be too big for fashion.

As gorgeous as I find her, Agyness is not conventionally beautiful--which works to her advantage. There's safety in the face that's constantly questioned. Agyness will never be out of vogue because she's makes an artful outsider in the fashion world--she's never quite been in vogue, despite all the covers, promotions, and press. As long as she can keep people wondering what it is, exactly, that makes her so luminous (I believe it's her eyes--they look as if they're seeing everything for the first time), she has a job.

She streamlines the marriage of fashion and music. She's rock. That is all.
