Watch: James Franco Adapts Faulkner's American Classic in 'As I Lay Dying'

We all know that James Franco is Hollywood's multi-talented multitasker. The actor will now make his directorial debut with a screen adaptation of William Faulkner's classic novel As I Lay Dying. This won't be an easy task as the novel, which tells the story of the Bundren family and their trek across the Mississippi backcountry to bury their mother and wife Addie, is told from multiple perspectives and written in stream of consciousness — two factors that will surely make translating the novel for the the big screen a major challenge. But, the trailer cuts right to the chase, introducing the characters and the mission in one fell swoop.

We'll find out if Franco's film succeeds when it's released at the Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off later this week. The film also stars Tim Blake Nelson, Logan Marshall Green, Ahna O’Reilly, and Jim Parrack.
