KAPOLEI (Hawaii): Japan’s Ai Miyaza-to shot a bogey–free 65 to grab a share of the lead at the LPGA’s LOTTE Championship on Thursday while local favourite Michelle Wie failed to make the cut.  

It was Miyazato’s fifth top-10 finish in six events, and her first victory in Hawaii in nine ... She has finished in the top 10 in all seven of her LPGA Tour starts this year. “I didn’t play well today,” Tseng said.  

I didn't miss any fairways. My short game was really good ... Wie also played poorly in no-cut events in Thailand and Singapore. Coming into this week, she was 119th in scoring average at 75.42 and had only one round in the 60s.  

World No.1 Yani Tseng of Taiwan, who has won three of the first six LPGA tournaments of the year, was at six-under 210, along with US Open champion So Yeon Ryu, former No.1 Jiyai Shin, Meena Lee and Angela Stanford.  

This tournament has become a minefield for the tour's marquee players. Defending champion Suzann Pettersen, No. 4 ranked Ai Miyazato and American stars Paula Creamer Brittany Lincicome and Michelle Wie lost in the opening round.  

Miyazato finished off to complete a two-under-par round of 70 while Lee, who carded the same score on Saturday, slipped back to finish in a tie for second with Spain's Azahara Munoz.  

Miyazato was tied for 10th with South Korea's Meena Lee at 3-under 213, with Ayaka Kaneko much further down the board in 71st with a three-day total of 225.
