Gemini Air Cargo calls it quits

Another casualty for the air cargo industry. After two stints in bankruptcy over the past couple of years, Dulles, VA based Gemini Air Cargo has ceased all operations. Gemini Air is the largest air cargo airline to fold since Kitty Hawk went out of business in 2007.

Via the Gemini Air Cargo website:

As reported to the United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Florida, Miami Division, after failing to find buyer as stated in court documents, Gemini Air Cargo, Inc. has ceased all operations effective August 12, 2008. Accordingly, we were not in a position to provide our customers or others with advance notice. We regret the inconvenience and the impact this has caused.

In addition to serving their own customers, Gemini also provided freight lift for Lufthansa, Fedex, and others.
