Some of the time internet searches bring up the most bizarre results... ...like this article called First Dirigible Conservatory to Land at Mabel Tripp Gardens on 'The City Desk' website. It took me a while to work out what this site was about at first, and to be honest I'm still not quite certain. The site is full of news type articles about a fictional city (strange but once you start reading you can't stop) which included the above mentioned article about an airship conservatory ! The... Two reports out today make good reading for a couple of airship manufacturers in the US. The first is Airship Surveillance who have announced that they are to open their facility to prospective clients so that they can discuss their requirements for developing the range of airships in production. You can read the full press release at the marketwire website. The second manufacturer making waves is SkyCat who have had a very interesting article posted abut them at Crains Manchester Business... I've come across an article on the BBC website from one of their correspondents about their own experience onboard a Zeppelin flight. See the bbc.co.uk article for a personal view of an airship flight. The article has a positive message about the comfort of airship travel over the cramped airline flights most of us are used to. There is also some ideas on what it might be like if we were able to travel from London to the far flung corners of the world in sumptuous surroundings. Sounds like... Read Full Story
There is soon to be an event, taking place in Canada, which will see the longest journey of a remote controlled airship in the country. The Horizon Blimp will travel the country stopping at around 30 different locations, mainly in rural areas. The blimp will record TV footage from around 450ft and beam them directly onto large screens in the area, showing local farms and grassland which Horizon benefits. You can read more at the Horizon Blimp Website where you can also see the tour route... Read Full Story
I apologise to those of you who visited the site yesterday and early today to be met with an advert for a Russian Bride! I can assure you that these have now been deleted from the site and I hope such interferance won't appear here again. The idea of the site was to involve other writers, but not to have to deal with spam like this - so sorry again. Scott Westerfeld has posted some superb pictures on his website relating to his adventure on a Zeppelin (the T-Mobile Zeppelin) in Germany - and the best is there's more to come. There are some great images of the Zeppelin airship, inside and out, including a great shot of the flight controls. There are a couple of videos added to the still images and the text gives a great run through of the days flight. You can read the Z Day and Z Day 2 articles on his site, and there seems to be more... Read Full Story
I've read a report today regarding the renovation of the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago. Seems like a strange link for an airship related website doesn't it but the report claims that part of this renovation includes the landing pad for a dirigible equipped with anchor hooks and landing lights .
I'd love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this facility, has pictures or even a video. Read Full Story
It's true - the blimpship website has disappeared from the web and I'm struggling to find out the cause of this little disaster. Thank goodness for the Zimbio hosted Airship Times pages! Until I can provide a satisfactory temporary site, or move the old one all together, I'll continue to add any new posts to the Airship Times pages here. Read Full Story
