Airship Ventures Inc.'s zeppelin airships will start flying scheduled flights starting Friday 10-31-08. Riders will be treated to a bird's-eye view of Napa and Sonoma wine country, the Big Sur coastline, San Francisco and other parts of the Bay Area. The cabin holds 12 passengers and two crew members, and tickets start at $495 per person for an one-hour ride. For this weekend's Steam Powered: The California Steampunk Convention , the band Abney Park and Airship Ventures have teamed up to offer dirigible rides to conference-goers (for $785 a ticket). Airship Ventures just brought one of their Zeppelin NTs over from Germany and it will be moored at Moffett Field. Airship Ventures, a zeppelin company that has been leasing space at Moffett Field outside San Francisco since 2008, now is being used by NASA as a platform for remote sensing and atmospheric science measurements.
