For a long time, people have loved GTO, a.k.a. Great Teacher Onizuka, the story of a gang-member-turned-awesome-teacher. The original manga ran from 1997 to 2002, which spawned a live-action TV drama, a movie, and an anime, all around the same time period. A follow-up manga, GTO Shonan 14 Days, ran from 2009 to 2011. Last weekend, an exhibition featuring selected works by the critically-acclaimed artist and director Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira, Steamboy, Memories) debuted at the Arts Chiyoda Center in Tokyo, Japan. Entitled GENGA, the event showcases approximately 2,300 manuscripts and original pictures, and a gnarly replica of the iconic Akira motorcycle. The show will be open to the public until May 30th. Kotobukiya has generally been pretty cool about producing a few figures here and there that appeal to the ladies, specifically the pretty boys from video games. In this case, a BL game (Togainu no Chi), which was adapted to an anime as well.
