Lost in Space (1998, Stephen Hopkins)

By Andrew Wickliffe on  From thestopbutton.com
For maybe forty minutes–from twenty minutes in to the hour mark–Lost in Space is actually rather engaging. It’s not any good as a narrative, but Hopkins’s direction of the space sequences is phenomenal. The film opens with something familiar, a dogfight out of Star Wars, but the later sequences are not. They aren’t original, but they’re the first time such a budget had been expended on them. Overall, Hopkins does an excellent job with the film. The last hour, featuring an alien planet and...Read Full Story

By maryumrazzaq2011 on  From geo436.com
Geo436: While Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsman bide their time until the various machinations preventing the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower subside, the pair has decided to busy themselves with bringing the Old West back to HBO in a series about the highly romanticized gunslinger, Doc Holliday. Given the current television climate, it could be said that HBO was years ahead of the curve when it debuted the foul-mouthed western drama Deadwood in 2004. It is now a little over five...Read Full Story

By Kevin Coll on  From fusedfilm.com
I am not a Stephen King fan, however I am a Dark Tower series fan and when I heard Hollywood was ready to dabble in developing one the best modern day fantasy epics for the big screen that uneasy, almost gassy feeling came over me and probably many fans. As Peter Hall at Cinematical, where we get this next bit of awesome news, would put it, “I’d have been skeptical no matter who was attached to the project.” Apparently the new rights owners managed to out JJ, noneother than JJ Abrams and crew...Read Full Story
