Al Harris Is Retiring
Veteran cornerback Al Harris has announced his plans to retire from football on Wednesday.
“As far as playing, that’ll be it,” Harris said according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “That was my last play. But as far as football is concerned, you’ll see me again.”
A sixth-round pick out of Texas A&M-Kingsville by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Harris played in 194 games over a 15-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles (1998-2002), Green Bay Packers (2003-09), Miami Dolphins (2010) and St. Louis Rams (2011). Harris recorded over 400 tackles, four quarterback sacks and 21 interceptions, earning two trips to the Pro Bowl (2007, 2008) before injuries limited him to just 34 games over the last four seasons.
Harris, 37, suffered a season-ending knee surgery in November that will require surgery on January 13.
