The NCNCHINC Plans Major Fund Raiser in Avon Park
The Southside Groove
By: Paul
The National Community Network and Coalition of Highlands, INC, whose headquarters is located in Avon Park, FL plans a major fund raiser to address an urgent situation. All the properties on the Delaney Avenue strip of the Southside Redevelopment Area is behind on their taxes, as many are at risk of losing their properties in the next year and in a couple case even sooner. The drive is planned to happen between 20 October 2001 and 31 December 2011.
We at the NCNCHINC had big plans for the Southside Redevelopment Area, but due to hard economic times everyone is barely surviving as owners have to choose between eating and making ends meet and trying to save their businesses that are not producing income. It is tough out there.
None of the businesses are open to the public at this time. The last two businesses that were open recently closed which are owned by the Herbert Family and the Moss Family. The NCNCHNC is hoping that a deal can be forged to use these facilities in cooperative effort to raise money to pay up all the taxes due for the businesses located on the strip, which will include a major food drive.
We are talking about an historical site that must be preserved for the integrity of the whole community. But like America who is no longer slowly dying from a cancer that has become fatal, the Avon Park Southside Redevelopment Area specifically Delaney Strip has a short life expectancy, as owners are really about the lose it all. Immorality destroyed this community!
Drugs, prostitution and I gambling has replaced the legitimate business opportunities. As people have BECOME DESPARATE. When you have immorality as the guiding beacon of a community, all that is left is anarchy. What we have is lawlessness as the police are really doing little to rectify the problem. The mentally of law enforcement is to keep it in the black community, drugs that is. They know if they clean up Delaney Avenue, that action will move to another location, they feel the action is being suppressed on the Delaney strip.
But the people of the community themselves have become tired of the drugs and violence on the Delaney strip and have put criminals under crime watch.
Many of the local dealers fear operating on the location because of the people and not the police, AS THE POLICE ONLY RESPOND because of the community residents, but the responses was too little too late. As all the businesses are closed now because of the drug activities on the strip. The sad part about this is the people who operate illegal activities on the strip are not landlords, they simply have pumped fear in the hearts of the owners of the properties.
The NCNCHINC is in the process of organizing the business owners and the best of the best in the community to redirect this community from immoarlity and create a God fearing coalition of businesses. We are calling on the Churches, community leaders and business minds collectively solve the problem for once and for all.
By no means can this drive be effective without the support of the Avon Park Community, both as consumers and volunteers. The corruption must end now! Stay tuned! Support the cause!
