Fast on the heels (no pun intended) of the week’s burning question “what’s wrong with UNC ?” is the next biggie: “How good is Wake Forest?” Short answer: Damn good. The long answer has to start with the late Skip Prosser . With all due props to Dino Gaudio who’s doing a great job according to everyone, Prosser was the architect of this squad, so let’s give him his due up front. He recruited these guys, and to their credit when the Wake coach died suddenly, all of them honored their commitment. If Coach Prosser died with a smile on his face, we know ... Read Full Story

AP - It took a lot to overshadow a rare Atlantic Coast Conference matchup of brothers, both of whom had a double-double. Iman Shumpert found a way. The freshman hit a pull-up jumper with one second remaining to lift Georgia Tech to its first ACC win, a 76-74 upset of Wake Forest (No. 4 ESPN/USA Today, No. 6 AP) on Saturday. Shumpert had only five points before tying the ... Read Full Story

N0. 8 WAKE FOREST 89, GEORGIA TECH 67 – Last time these two met, the cellar-dweller Yellow Jackets upset the Demon Deacons. Not this time. Wake’s James Johnson caught the opening tip and drove in for a thunderous dunk, the beginning of a dominant 24-point, 11-rebound performance to lead the Deacs to a relatively easy win. The opening throw down was part of a dominating stretch where Wake Forest raced to leads of 25-5 and 48-25 on Johnson's 3-pointer late in the first half. After Georgia Tech's 3-point shooting helped cut the deficit to five early in the second half, Johnson went to work ... Read Full Story
