Although Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive is my favorite film of 2011, the one actor who has the best chance at getting an Oscar nom is Albert Brooks, who stars as mobster Bernie Rose. He was already nominated for a Golden Globe, but they want to go all the way. So FilmDistrict is "re-releasing" Drive back into the Arclight...

However, after Brooks surprisingly failed to land the equivalent SAG Awards honor, many began worrying he wouldn't make the Oscar cut. That sadly came to pass as Max Von Sydow was the surprise fifth nominee for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close."  

It's highly unlikely that Drive can still get into the an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, but one nomination that does seem sewn up is Albert Brooks for Best Supporting Actor.  That campaign will likely continue to pick up steam as the ArcLight Hollywood theater will bring Drive back for an exclusive one-week engagement beginning this Friday, January 6th, and Brooks will be in attendance to do a Q&A at 7:20 PM.
