Battlestar Galactica to re open in first half of 2011
The much awaited and the world’s tallest duelling roller coaster, the Battlestar Galactica is scheduled to re-open in the first half of 2011 in Singapore. The biggest attraction of the Universal Studios is ready to enter the final stages of testing.
The final safety checks will be done including the day time stress test, the online news reports said. The huge outdoor roller coaster is themed after the famous television series Battlestar Galactica. The roller coaster was closed on March 25 within weeks of its opening.
Some reports had said that, a seat of the coaster had fallen off during a test in the morning. However nobody was on the ride during the test ride.
Vekoma Rides, the manufacturer said, “higher than anticipated stress and vibration levels caused fatigue cracks to develop in a welded component on the ride’s seat-post support.” The local broadcast company had said that, each and every component of the coaster has been taken off and re-assembled so as to fix the problem. Moreover all the welded parts also have been replaced for the safety of the ride.
