Tonight is Burns Night, when Scotland celebrates its poet laureate Robert Burns. Born in 1759, Burns was the son of a poor tenant farmer from Ayreshire. Despite his lack of wealth, William Burnes, Robert's father, insisted that his son be educated and hired a tutor to assist with his studies. The neat thing out of today’s practice was backup goalie Alex Auld unveiling his new mask (which is actually is road mask from his time with the Stars painted over). I love the design because it honors some great Rangers’ goalies. It has a likeness of Eddie Giacomin’s mask and one of John Davidson’s famous red white and blue mask, both in front of a Madison Square Garden shadow.
