Alexander Edler, the most important piece of the Vancouver Canucks defense core, will miss at least a couple of weeks to undergo microdiscectomy back surgery.  Edler gets lost in the talks when speaking of the top fantasy defensemen, but this kid can sure put up the points.  Edler was on career pace this season, (52 points).  Those of us lucky enough to watch Alexander Edler out West know that this is a huge loss for a team looking to make a Stanley Cup run.  At least the Canucks should be getting Sami Salo back soon - this will ease the blow.  As a fan, I would love to see a Canadian club win the Cup.  So I wish Alexander Edler a speedy recovery, he will be needed!
