There is a multiple personality disorder to Alexander Semin's game, one which is  appropriately lethal when directed at his opposition, and alternatively another which is insidious and a self-inflicted wound which harms his own club. We witnessed the variations in the past two games. On Long Island Monday, with the outcome against the Islanders uncertain and in overtime, we were mesmerized by the Siberian sniper's other worldly patience with the puck, deftly feeding Alexander Ovechkin in tight for the game winner. Alexander Semin scored on a slap shot from just inside the red line only 22 seconds into overtime to give the Washington Capitals a 4-3 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday in a matchup of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Zdeno Chara's 100th career goal with 4:37 left in regulation forced overtime, but it didn't last long. Soon after the first faceoff, Semin brought the puck over the red line and launched a hard but apparently harmless slapper at the net that trickled through Tim Thomas' pads for the winner. Alex Ovechkin scored his league-leading 45th goal of the season for ... Read Full Story

Atlanta Wins 7 - 4 I personally thought they would lose, but the Thrashers pulled off a win tonight (or last night, depending on you’re time zone) against the Capitals and I couldn’t be happier that I was wrong. I was totally surprised by the win, during the first period the Thrashers came out play fast and with a lot of energy, scoring three goal in the first 15 mins of the first period (Hainsey, Reasoner, and Little. In that order). Then Alexander Semin scored the Capitals first goal with 5 minutes left. ... Read Full Story

The Washington Capitals are a professional ice hockey team based in Washington, D.C. They are members of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). They play in the Verizon Center in Washington's Chinatown neighborhood. Washington Capitals won the game, 4-3; and as you can see at the end of this clip , that allowed Donald Brashear the chance to taunt the Boston fans behind the Caps' bench. Alexander Semin's game-winner at 22 seconds of overtime was pure anti-climax: an 80-foot goal from beyond the blue line that trickled past Boston goalie Tim Thomas, who quickly bolted his crease ...
