By ballhyped on  From ballhyped.com
The Washington Capitals regroup after a two goal Game 1 loss. Braden Holtby wasn't great allowing 3 goals on just 14 shots. He didn't allow 3 goals until the 85th Bruins shot during the opening round. Alex Semins poor play has him demoted to the fourth line and rookie Dimtri Orlov may provide fresh legs [...]CAPITALS REGROUPING AFTER GAME 1 LOSS, SEMIN DEMOTED, ORLOV TO MAKE PLAYOFF DEBUT is a post by the Best Sports Blogs at BallHyped.com. Alexander Semin's Hit on Dan Boyle

By Deena Bustillo on
Things got a little ugly at the end of the blowout game between Canada and Russia today. Russia was losing 7-3 with just about 3 minutes left in the third period, when Alexander Semin of Russia slammed Dan Boyle of Canada hard and high into the boards. Boyle was fine, but then came up behind Semin seconds later and slew-footed him. Both guys got penalties for the altercation, and some say both hits were dirty, while others think both were clean -- or somewhere in a gray area. Either way...Read Full Story

Semin Prepares To Hit The UFA Market

By TheConfluence on  From kuklaskorner.com
There’s change coming to the Washington Capitals this summer and it’s not just their head coach. Barring a complete change of heart, forward Alexander Semin won’t be back in Washington next season. According to Semin’s agent Mark Gandler, the skilled forward has no intentions of signing a contract extension with the Capitals and plans on becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1. “It was good while it lasted. With the lack of playoff success, with the direction they are going. They...Read Full Story

The Last Of Semin?

By TheConfluence on  From kuklaskorner.com
There is no way of knowing what’s inside Alex Semin as this monumental night of his professional career approaches. But in many ways, this is an historic confrontation for the Washington Capitals and New York Rangers and a probable farewell for one of hockey’s most confusing and confounding players. The Capitals were built around a supposed fabulous four, Alexander Ovechkin, Semin, Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom, and this will season will end the run of that group, no matter what happens...Read Full Story

Dale Hunter and Alexander Semin Not Returning To Capitals

By SportsPageNetwork on  From bustasports.com
The last few days have not been fun for Washington Capitals fans. First there was the heart breaking 2-1 Game 7 loss to the New York Rangers. Then the news broke that Dale Hunter had decided to return to the London Knights and resign as head coach of the Washington Capitals. On Monday, soon to be free agent right winger ...Read Full Story

Washington Capitals 2010-11: The Moment Is of the Essence

By OnFrozenBlog on  From onfrozenblog.com
We kid ourselves, don’t we, if we think for a moment that with the puck-drop tonight in Atlanta all the agony of last April will forever be vanquished? That all of our collective scar tissue will be healed. Forget about just last spring — do you know how much scar tissue related to Capitals’ playoff misery there is for an Old Timer like me? Of course it will be great to watch hockey again, but unlike any previous season in Capitals’ history, 2010-11 will be about crossing off the 82 game...Read Full Story

Alexander Semin: Should He Stay or Should He Go?

By OnFrozenBlog on  From onfrozenblog.com
To trade or not to trade — that seems to be the question when any discussion of Alexander Semin arises this offseason. Keep him and you again fill a top 6 roster spot with promise, petulance, and perimeter play. And probably 32-38 goals. Deal him and you perhaps remove a stain of softness and infuriating inconsistency. You’d also afford yourself nearly $7 of salary cap space. But can you deal Alexander Semin? Practically speaking, is there any semblance of a market for this enigma? He’s got...Read Full Story

Alexander Semin demoted to fourth line for practice

By Ivelin Cholakov on  From topnews1.com
Coach Dale Hunter did a little bit of line shuffling for Sunday’s practice at Madison Square Garden. Most noticeable among the tweaks is that Alexander Semin has dropped to the fourth line a day after he took a pair of careless penalties in Game 1. It’s doubtful those two facts are unrelated as the demotion is likely a message to the Russian winger to get back to the discipline he showed in the first round. Read moreRead Full Story

The Jeckyl and Hyde of Alexander Semin

By OnFrozenBlog on  From onfrozenblog.com
There is a multiple personality disorder to Alexander Semin's game, one which is  appropriately lethal when directed at his opposition, and alternatively another which is insidious and a self-inflicted wound which harms his own club. We witnessed the variations in the past two games. On Long Island Monday, with the outcome against the Islanders uncertain and in overtime, we were mesmerized by the Siberian sniper's other worldly patience with the puck, deftly feeding Alexander Ovechkin in...Read Full Story

Atlanta Thrashers vs. Washington Capitals

By Matthew Johnson on  From lithiumradio.org
Atlanta Wins 7 - 4 I personally thought they would lose, but the Thrashers pulled off a win tonight (or last night, depending on you’re time zone) against the Capitals and I couldn’t be happier that I was wrong. It was an excellent game, fast and not a little rough. I was totally surprised by the win, during the first period the Thrashers came out play fast and with a lot of energy, scoring three goal in the first 15 mins of the first period (Hainsey, Reasoner, and Little. In that order...Read Full Story
