Las Vegas Sun managing editor to retire this year
The managing editor of the Las Vegas Sun says he'll retire next month.
Michael J. Kelley said Wednesday he plans to split time between his hometown of Kansas City, Mo., and Maryland, where his daughter and two grandchildren live.
Kelley is 67. He started in newspapers in 1960 and has been managing editor at the Sun since 1997.
In April, the Sun won the Pulitzer Prize for public service for stories about construction safety and worker deaths at resort projects in Las Vegas.
Kelley says he told Sun President and Editor Brian Greenspun last summer that he planned to retire. He notified his staff Tuesday.
The Greenspun Media Group owns the Sun.
