Alexandre Vinokourov Takes Third

Thousands cheer as Kazakh Alexandre Vinokourov rides up a final climb to get third place on stage 12 of the Tour de France July 16, 2010 in Mende, France. The stage, which started in Bourg-de-Peage, included the La Croix Neuve pass which is nearly 1.2 miles in length with an average gradient of more than 10%. Joaquin Rodriguez of Spain won the stage while Andy Schleck of Saxo Bank continued to hold onto the yellow jersey. The day's ride started in Bourg-de-Peage and included the La Croix Neuve pass which is nearly 1.2 miles in length with an average gradient of more than 10%.

Joaquin Rodriguez of Spain won the stage while Andy Schleck of Saxo Bank continued to hold onto the yellow jersey. The iconic bicycle race will include a total of 20 stages and will cover 3,642km before concluding in Paris on July 25.

Alberto Contador gained time on rival Andy Schleck and is now only 31 seconds behind the leader.
