Late last week, we discovered that DreamWorks and Working Title Films would be remaking Alfred Hitchcock’s only Oscar Winning movie Rebecca, now comes word that Paramount is also getting into remaking Hitchcock titles, starting with Suspicion. The original movie starred Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine and followed the story of a wife who suspected her husband of attempting to kill her in order to obtain money from her wealthy family.
Suspicion will be written by AMC’s The Killing series writer Veena Sud. As hesitant as I am about remakes, I’d say I am completely on board with the recent announcement of Alfred Hitchcock movies being produced for a contemporary audience. Of course it also gives many of them a reason to head to the internet and put some of Hitchcock’s original works on their Netflix queue.
